Google Password Manager is a powerful tool that allows you to save, manage, and secure your passwords and passkeys across Android devices and Chrome browsers. Here’s a detailed guide on setting it up and using it effectively on both platforms:
1. Enable Autofill with Google:
Open the Settings app on your Android device and scroll down and tap Google > All services. Navigate to the Autofill & Passwords section and tap Autofill with Google.
Ensure that Use Autofill with Google is turned on.
Confirm that the correct Google account is listed under Account to ensure your passwords are saved and synced correctly.
2. Create and Save Strong Passwords:
When you create a new account on an app or website, Android can suggest a strong, unique password. If you want to use the suggested password, click Use password .
If you want to choose your own password, click Create my own. After that click on Save.
In both cases, the password will be saved automatically to your Google Password Manager.
3. Sign In with Saved Passwords:
If you’ve saved your password for an app before, Android can assist you with signing in.
Open the app you want to sign in to on your Android device and tap the username field and select your username or type it in.
Tap the password field, and above the keyboard, tap Passwords > Pick a saved password to autofill.
4. Manage Saved Passwords:
To view your saved passwords, go to passwords.google.com or access the Google Password Manager in your device settings (Settings > Google > Password Manager).
To delete a saved password, select the account, then tap Delete.
1. Turn on Sync in Chrome:
To use your passwords on all your devices, including your Apple devices, make sure you are signed into Chrome with your Google Account and sync is turned on.
Open Chrome, click on your profile icon in the top right, and go to Sync and Google Services to enable syncing.
2. Save Passwords with Chrome:
If you enter a new password on a site, Chrome will ask to save it. Click Save to store it in your Google Account.
3. Sign In with Saved Passwords:
If you’ve saved a password on a previous visit to a site, Chrome can autofill the sign-in form. For that, click on the suggested credentials suggested from from Google Password Manager.
If multiple usernames or passwords are saved, select the appropriate option from the dropdown.
4. Manage Saved Passwords in Chrome:
Open Chrome and click on your profile icon > Passwords (key icon).
You can view, delete, or export saved passwords directly from this menu.

Create and sync passkeys with Google Password Manager
After that, create a recovery PIN (or if using a Android device, a pattern) that helps you access the passkey on any devices, connected to your Google account. Enter the PIN and click Confrim.
Login with Passkeys:
To login with a passkey on Chrome with a device, that is connected to your Google account, open a website or app, that supports passkeys. Click sign in with a passkey (or similar). Automatically a window from Google Password Manager should pop up, suggesting you to lo gin with your safed passkey. Click on the according account
Depending on the device you’re using, signing in with a passkey varies slightly. If you’re on the device where the passkey was created, you can sign in directly using your chosen biometric method. However, if you’re on a different device linked to the same Google account, you’ll need to enter your Google Password Manager PIN or pattern.
Manage Passkeys Across Devices:
To manage your passkeys, go to passwords.google.com or access the Google Password Manager settings within Chrome or your Android device. Here, you can view, delete, or update your passkeys.
Passkeys saved in Google Password Manager are end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that only you can access them, even if stored across multiple devices.
Importing and exporting passkeys and passwords in Google Password Manager is a crucial feature for users who want to manage credentials across different platforms, back up data, or switch between password managers.
How to Export Passwords: Go to Google Password Manager, select the passkeys you want to export, and choose the export option. Save the file securely to transfer passkeys to another service or backup location.
How to Import Passwords: To import passkeys, select the import option in Google Password Manager, choose the file containing your credentials, and follow the prompts to add them to your account.
